Wrapping Paper Games
Have a relay race to see which team can unwrap probably the most presents in the shortest amount of time. Wrap several empty cereal boxes and divide them into two piles. Have two teams line up. The first person in each line runs towards the pile of boxes, grabs one, unwraps it and discards the paper. The paper must land in the trash can. The very first person then runs back to his team and passes the unwrapped to the next player. The player runs, unwraps a box and runs back. The sport continues until no boxes remain. Teams may also have a contest to see who can wrap up a teammate like a present the fastest.
Christmas Cookie Time
Instead of a gift exchange, consider holding a cookie swap at the party. Have children bring two dozen of their favorite Christmas cookies, preferably homemade. Set each plate of cookies up for grabs and let guests pick from each plate. Provide plates and cellophane to wrap the cookies in. You may also blindfold each child and feed them a cookie, asking them to identify what type of cookie it's. Before you do so, make sure you are conscious of any allergies guests might have.
Candy toss
To play this game, arrange a collection of plastic cups on a solid surface such as a table. Around the room, have small prizes in various containers: candy in a stocking, small toys in various containers like a blue wrapped box, a bucket having a red bow, etc. More categories alllow for more excitement in this game! Write the each prize category on several slips of paper, and tape those to the inside of the cups. Mark a line on the ground. Each child receives a certain amount of wrapped hard candy, and reaches throw these into the cups before them like a dime toss. Prizes are awarded in line with the cup the candy lands in.
Frosty's snowballs
Draw a snowman a minimum of two feet tall on a piece of cardboard, and cut out a sizable hole in his stomach. Provide each child with five full-sized marshmallows to serve as snowballs. Divide the kids into teams. Each child stands in a mark on the floor and tries to throw as many of their "snowballs" into Frost's stomach as they possibly can. For each marshmallow that passes through the stomach hole that team scores some point. The team with the most points after the game wins.

In this take on Christmas party games for children, you should obtain several small gifts beforehand. Wrap one gift inside a box, then place it inside another box and wrap it, and so forth, creating multiple layers of boxes and wrapping until each box has numerous layers on it. Seat your kids in a circle and provide a number of these gifts, but not one for every player. In this version of hot potato, the kids pass the gifts while music plays. Once the music stops, each child reaches unwrap and discard one layer from the wrapping. Whoever opens this area with the prize gets to ensure that it stays. Start different boxes at different times to help keep this game going longer.
